1. What is CenceMe?
CenceMe is an application for your iPhone™. CenceMe infers
human presence information based on iPhone™ sensors, for example, activity,
location according to the user's privacy settings. Soon, CenceMe will even be able to determine if a person is busy in a
conversation, or dancing at a party! This presence can be gathered and shared
with your Facebook™ friends running CenceMe on their iPhone; (MySpace™ is coming soon!), as well as
viewed locally on the iPhone™. CenceMe software also allows you to customize how
your presence information is displayed, by assigning personalized icons, photo, and
text to your presence. The personalized text can be used also as your Facebook™ Status if you want.
2. How does CenceMe work?
You can easily install for free CenceMe as an application on your iPhone™.
After installation, you have immediate access to a subset of the CenceMe
features on the iPhone™, but to see your buddies' location and activity, or to
customize and share your presence on Facebook™ you have to activate CenceMe.
Activation (free) is done through the iPhone™ and requires that you to log on to
Facebook™. In order to allow your friend to see your CenceMe presence, you have
to add the CenceMe box to your Facebook™ profile page. For the details about how to add the CenceMe box,
please follow the instructions in step 4 of the "Description" page.
3. How do I activate CenceMe to get access to all the
features?
Enter the "Activate" menu found on the CenceMe "Settings" view.
Tap the "Activate" button, and follow the on-screen instructions. After having activated CenceMe on the
iPhone you have to add the CenceMe box to your Facebook™ profile page in order to allow your friends
to see your CenceMe presence. This last step became necessary after the introduction of the new
Facebook™ portal. Please refer to step 4 in the "Description" page
for more details about the CenceMe box installation in your Facebook™ profile.
4. Is my CenceMe presence information public?
Your CenceMe presence can be viewed only by Facebook™ buddies that you
authorize via your Facebook™ page.
5. Who are my CenceMe buddies?
All your Facebook™ buddies running CenceMe on their iPhone™.
Tell your friends about CenceMe and help the CenceMe community keep growing!
6. How do I protect my privacy?
You can decide what aspects of your presence to share on your
Facebook™ profile. Use the "Privacy" menu on the CenceMe "Settings" view on the
phone to change your privacy settings. Additionally, you can configure your
Facebook™ account to control buddies' access to the CenceMe Facebook™ plugin.
7. How do I uninstall CenceMe?
To uninstall the application from your iPhone™, long tap on the
CenceMe icon on the iPhone™ main screen and follow the instructions. To uninstall
the CenceMe box from your Facebook™ profile page, click on the "Edit" link that you find
in the Applications box located in the right hand side of your Facebook™ Home page and then on the
"Authorized" tab. Locate "CenceMe - iPhone Edition". Click "Remove" on the right hand side of the row
containing "CenceMe - iPhone Edition".
8. What if I "Remove Box" inside the "Boxes" or the "Wall" page of
my Facebook™ account?
To recover from this state, you have to add the CenceMe box back.
In order to do so, please follow the instructions in step 4 of the "Description" page.
9. I can't see any CenceMe information on my Facebook™
profile page, even though I have activated my CenceMe iPhone™ application with
Facebook™. Even if I retry the activate process, I am informed that the
activation has already taken place. What should I do?
You should first remove the CenceMe box from your Facebook™
profile (see Question 7) and then re-activate your CenceMe iPhone™ application
(see Question 3).
10. Sometimes my most recent CenceMe presence is reflected on my Facebook™ profile only after a long delay. What is happening?
Most often the cause of this problem is due to limited data
network coverage for your iPhone™ at your particular location. The CenceMe
iPhone™ application can not connect to our servers and so presence updates are
not possible.
11. I thought I already activated my application, but I am
requested to re-activate my application with Facebook™. Why does this
occur?
A request to re-activate your CenceMe iPhone™ application with
Facebook™ can occur for a variety of reasons. Most often this happens due to an
incomplete or faulty activation process. Users must be sure to click the blue
button presented in the final screen of the registration process. Re-activate
CenceMe from your iPhone™ (see Question 3).
